A sacred place is an absolute necessity for anybody today. You must have a room, or a certain hour or so a day, where you do not know what was in the newspapers that morning, you do not know who your friends are, you do not know what you owe anybody, you do not know what anybody owes to you. This is a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are and what you might be. This is the place of creative incubation. At first you may find that nothing happens there. But if you have a sacred place and use it, something eventually will happen ... JosephCampbell

Awashima Laboratory

Awashima Lab. was established in 2014 to preserve the history of Awashima island. This Lab is operated by artists who have stayed in Awashima. A long time ago, so many goods from overseas gathered on this island in which a seafaring school had been founded. From those things preserved, exhibitions were held by artists. In this exhibition, we introduce the war story of this island, through the Notice of the Constitution of the Japanese Empire, distributed in 1890. I hope many people to know about that there were forgotten sad memories in this beautiful and peaceful island.
